Kim Holsclaw
Managing Director
Kim Holsclaw is the managing director of the Blessings in a Backpack Louisville Chapter, a position she has held since the chapter’s inception in 2016. With a decade of experience at Blessings, she possesses a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects involved in running a Blessings program. Kim’s background includes board management, large budget oversight, and grant writing, skills she honed during her ten-year tenure as Mayor of a suburban city in Louisville. Additionally, she gained valuable event planning experience as the Event Coordinator for the Kentucky Restaurant Association’s largest annual fundraiser.
Outside of her professional commitments, Kim is married and the mother of two sons, along with an Australian Cattle Dog named Loco. In her free time, she enjoys thrifting, antiquing, and listening to true crime podcasts.
Kaela Hammerstrom Combs
Chapter Coordinator
Kaela Hammerstrom Combs serves as the Chapter Coordinator for the Blessings in a Backpack Louisville Chapter, following in the footsteps of her mother, the organization’s founder, Missy Hammerstrom. Kaela joined the team in 2024 and shares her mother’s deep commitment to addressing childhood hunger. She brings a decade of event planning experience, serving as the Venue Manager at The Pointe in Louisville. Her strong project management skills and ability to efficiently coordinate logistics enhance her effectiveness in collaborating with our food distributor, Sysco, and overseeing overall program management.
Kaela is married and recently welcomed her first child. In her free time, she enjoys training and pampering her two German Shepherds.
